Head, who was supposed to join the squad for their decisive encounter, has not yet traveled to India after testing positive for COVID-19. SRH head coach Daniel Vettori confirmed the development on Sunday, stating that Head’s entry had been put on hold because he fell ill. He is now expected to reach India on Monday morning.

Head’s late arrival is a setback for SRH as they take on LSG in a game that would affect their already low hopes in the tournament. Vettori made it clear that there is no certainty that Head will be fit for SRH’s next IPL 2025 games. The Hyderabad franchise is already out of playoff contention, lying at number 8 in the IPL standings with just seven points from their 11 games.

Vettori addressed the situation during a press conference, stating, “Travis is coming in tomorrow morning, he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel, so he’ll get in tomorrow morning and we’ll assess how he is after that.”

SRH’s Struggles in IPL 2025

This unfortunate news adds to a series of disappointments for SRH this season. Having reached the final of IPL 2024, SRH has had an underwhelming performance in IPL 2025. Following a promising start with a comprehensive 44-run win over the Rajasthan Royals, SRH has secured just three wins and lost seven matches. The rest of their schedule has a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 23, followed by a last league-stage match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 25.

Travis Head’s Disappointing IPL 2025 Season

While Head had a phenomenal season in IPL 2024 with 567 runs, his run this season has been less inspiring. The Australian batsman has mustered only 281 runs from 11 games and has not been able to show the form that made him one of SRH’s mainstays last season.

It has not only been Head who has failed to deliver; other prominent names in the team, such as Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen, and skipper Pat Cummins, have also not been able to play up to the mark consistently this season.

The Road Ahead for SRH and Travis Head

With SRH’s playoff dreams now dashed, the focus now turns to the remaining matches of IPL 2025, as well as Head’s recovery. Whether or not he plays in any of the last matches for SRH is still undecided as the team takes a look at him on arrival.

Though the loss of Head is one of many issues the team have dealt with this season SRH fans surely want it to finish positively despite being in such a dire situation.
