Travis Kelce is a professional football tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Following the team’s loss at the Super Bowl 2025. Ever since there have been speculations about whether or not he will be returning for another season and even though there hasn’t been an official announcement yet, the superstar is contemplating retirement options.
The football star was seen looming about his decision with his brother, Jason Kelce on his podcast “New Heights”.
Travis shared on the podcast, “I’m gonna take some time to figure it out, And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision and I’m not half-assing it, and I’m fully here for them.:
“I think I can play, it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.” he added.
Kelce was not in his best form in the latest season of the Super Bowl covering only 823 yards, his lowest since 2015. Adam Schefter, an ESPN insider believes otherwise as he said, “As of today, my understanding is he is leaning towards coming back to play again. That’s not how he wants to end his NFL career,”
Kelce is often considered one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history and is a ten-time Pro Bowler and seven-time All-Pro selection. He holds the NFL record for the most consecutive and most overall seasons with 1,000 receiving yards by a tight end in seven seasons.
He also set the single-season yardage record for a tight end with 1,415 in 2020. He became the father NFL tight end to reach 10,000 career yards and achieved this milestone faster than any other NFL player.
He has been a part of the winning squad of the Super Bowl LIV, LVII and LVIII and they were the defending champions of the 2025 season however their victory streak was cut short by the Philadelphia Eagles as they beat them by 40-22. Following his loss at the league, there have been rumours of his retirement and although it’s not confirmed yet, chances of him returning are extremely shallow.
