The Texas Super Kings (TSK) sustained their winning streak in MLC 2025 with a dominant 57-run win against the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) on Sunday, June 15, in California. Having narrowly gotten past MI New York in their first match, TSK produced a more dominating all-around display in their second game of the season.
TSK Batting Report
Asked to bat first, Texas Super Kings started slow. Skipper Faf du Plessis had another poor day and got out for a low score as he fell prey to a pinpoint yorker from Andre Russell after making an initial attempt at counterattacking.
But a dynamic cameo by Saiteja Mukkamalla, who hit two sixes during the powerplay, steadied the ship. Devon Conway, who had been in good touch in the last game, also appeared fluent with a 34 off 21 balls before he miscued a shot to long-off.
No batter was able to stabilize the innings despite a sequence of encouraging beginnings. Daryl Mitchell, although struggling with timing, remained unbeaten on 36. He took his strike rate over 100 in the last over with a canny scoop six off Russell.
The actual push came from Donovan Ferreira, who hit a destructive 32 off a mere 16 balls* during the death overs, taking TSK to a fighting 181/4 in their 20 overs.
TSK Bowling Brilliance: Noor Ahmad Leads with 4-fer
Defending a total of 182, TSK bowlers opened fire. Adam Milne struck early, having Andre Fletcher lbw, while Miha Patel had the destructive Alex Hales out, who had threatened briefly with consecutive sixes.
Afghan left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad was the highlight of the evening. He cleaned up the powerplay by dismissing Nitish Kumar and came back to claim the huge wickets of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine on consecutive deliveries, both victimized by mistimed shots.
At 74/4, LAKR folded to 74/7, losing three wickets within seven deliveries. Daryl Mitchell also contributed with a vital scalp, clean bowling Unmukt Chand with a ball that remained low.
Although Shadley van Schalkwyk attempted to stall the inevitable with a battling 27, LAKR were bowled out for a mere 124 in 17.1 overs. Milne finished the innings with 2/8, while Noor ended with match-winning figures of 4/25.
