Junaid Siddique, a fast bowler for the UAE, was penalised with two demerit points and fined 25% of his match fee for two Level 1 infractions of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third T20I match against New Zealand on Sunday in Dubai.

For violating article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could incite an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match, Siddique received an official reprimand and one demerit point was added to his disciplinary record.

Tim Seifert was dismissed in the fifth over of the New Zealand innings, and during that over, Siddique approached him and spoke angrily.

In addition, he was fined 25% of his match fee and given another demerit point for violating article 2.8 later in the game, which deals with “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision.”

In the 17th over, after an appeal for dismissal was denied, Siddique displayed his displeasure by speaking crudely to the umpire.

There was no need for a formal hearing because Siddique admitted the violations and agreed to the punishments Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees suggested.

The accusations were made by the on-field umpires Akbar Ali and Shiju Sam as well as the third umpire Aasif Iqbal.
