UCI Mountain Bike World Series: Formats

The 2025 series will witness several racing formats:

Cross-country Olympic (XCO)

It is an Olympic mountain biking format, featuring mass-start races over multiple laps on technical courses.  It tests the riders’ climbing and descending skills.

Cross-country Short Track (XCC)

This discipline is held at the start of race weekend. These are fast-paced races that take place on condensed tracks over reduced distances. They also help in determining the starting grid for the XCO races.

Downhill (DHI)

A race is staged against the clock where riders descend steeply on technical courses. The fastest time wins the race.

Enduro (EDR)

Riders negotiate multiple timed downhill stages over a day, pedaling to each stage’s start. The rider with the shortest cumulative time secures victory.
