In the UFC, winning one title is hard. Most fighters spend their entire careers just chasing the one title and some fighters never get their hands on it. So when someone manages to win a championship in two different weight classes. It shows they are not just great at one specific size and skill set; they are the greatest of all time.

This achievement even has its own nickname in the sport: “Double Champ” status. Over the years only a few fighters do this and each of the fighters has their own story.

In this article we mention the top 5 UFC fighters who successfully held titles in two different weight classes.

Conor McGregor

If you are talking about championships, then start with Conor McGregor because he is the guy who made things first. Before McGregor, there was no UFC fighter who did this; he is the first one in the UFC who did this. In 2016 he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the Lightweight Championship.

At the time he was already the Featherweight Champion, and after this win, he made himself the first ever two-division champion in UFC history. It was a big moment for UFC as well. Conor McGregor became the most famous UFC fighter overnight.

Amanda Nunes

If Cornor opened the door, Amanda Nunes kicked it wide open for the Women’s side. Many fans and analysts consider her the greatest female fighter the sport has ever seen and her resume backs that up completely.

Nunes made history at UFC 232 in december 2018 when she beat Cris Cyborg, one of the most feared strikers in women’s MMA at the time. That win gave Nunes the featherweight title to go along with her Championship, making her the first woman ever to hold two UFC titles at once. Beating a legend like Cyborg to do it only added to how she was.

Daniel Cormier

Daniel Cormier’s story is a little different because he became a double champ by luck, at least in the term of timing. He was already the reigning Light Heavyweight Champion when he decided to move up and challenge Stipe Miocic for the Heavyweight title at UFC 226 in 2018.

Cormier won that fight to become the second man in UFC history to hold two belts at the same time. What was even more impressive was that he kept defending his Light Heavyweight title. He also had the Heavyweight belt, which showed he could compete at the top level in two very different size categories at the same time.

Henry Cejudo

Henry Cejudo does not always get the credit he deserves but his achievement is right up there with the best of them. He was already the Flyweight Champion when he stepped up to face Marlon Moraes for the Bantamweight titles at UFC 238 in 2019.

Cejudo won and became just the second fighter ever to defend his two titles at the same time.

He is one of the great fighters in the UFC as well.

Georges St-Pierre

Georges St-Pierre, aka GSP, is one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time because of his double champ run in the UFC. he had already cemented his legacy as a dominant Welterweight Champion and had actually walked away from the UFC as champion.

A few years later, he came back again and moved up in weight to challenge Michael Bisping for the Middleweight Championship at UFC 217 in 2017. GSP won that match via submission, adding a second title in a heavier division to his already legendary career.
