Where the US likes to attack, Paraguay likes to defend. Paraguay may be the lowest ranked team in the group sitting at 41st in the world, but they are well organised as they will give their best to make the game as difficult as possible for the American forwards.
Major concern for Paraguay is they managed 14 goals in 18 qualifying games, and to make things worse, their best attacking player Julio Enciso is injured and unlikely to feature. Scoring goals is going to be a real challenge for Alfaro’s side. It’s also worth noting that while the US walked straight into this tournament as co-hosts, Paraguay had to fight hard to book that berth. They finished as the last of the six automatic qualifiers, but they got there, and that shows character.
