Sumit picked up cautions during his match and lost to Maita Kawana of Japan 14-6. On the other hand, Alireza Azizkhoon Mohamadipiani of Iran defeated Dahiya 1–5.
Narinder Cheema (97 kg GR), the other Indian contestant, was defeated 1-4 by Olzhas Syrlybay of the host country.
On the first day of the competition, India won two bronze medals in addition to one silver.
Rupin, who finished third at the World Cadet Championships, fell to Iranian Poya Soulat Dad Marz 1-3 in the 55kg GR final.
The bronze medalists were Sunil Kumar (87 kg GR) and Neeraj (63 kg GR).
