Virat Kohli Clarifies Instagram Engagement With Avneet Kaur’s Fan Page

Virat Kohli has managed to avoid most social media controversies, but he recently got into one because of a simple ‘like’. The right-handed batsman posted a birthday wish for his wife, Anushka Sharma, on social media.

However, things took a different turn when Virat liked a post from a fan page dedicated to actress Avneet Kaur on Instagram. Fans quickly noticed it, and it caused a lot of talk online. This also led to some wild rumors among fans.

As things started to get out of hand, Virat Kohli didn’t wait long to address the situation. On Friday (May 2), he posted a clarification on Instagram.

Without mentioning the actress’s name, the former India captain addressed the issue, saying:

“I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding.”

Meanwhile, Kohli is playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2025. His next match will be on May 3, when RCB takes on Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Kohli has been in great form this season. He is currently the third-highest run-scorer in IPL 2025, having scored 443 runs in 10 matches, including 6 fifties.
