The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been the best tournament for the defending Champion RCB so far. They have won 6 matches out of 8 matches yet. Amid IPL chaos, Virat Kohli stayed back in Delhi after playing a match against the Delhi Capitals on 28 April. King Kohli inaugurated a cricket academy for his childhood Coach Rajkumar Sharma’s academy, which shows their bond and Kohli’s respect towards his coach.

Virat Stayed with his Coach

In the middle of a packed IPL schedule filled with constant matches and travel, Virat Kohli showed that some relationships go far beyond the game. Just a day after playing a key role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s composed victory over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Kohli chose to delay his return flight and remain in Delhi for a personal commitment.

Coach Rajkumar Sharma Launches New Branch

On Monday, the former India captain was present alongside his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma for the launch of a new branch of the West Delhi Cricket Academy (WDCA) at Delhi Public School, RK Puram. Even with RCB set for an important clash against Gujarat Titans later in the week, Kohli stayed back in the capital to stand by the mentor who played a major role in shaping his cricketing journey.

DDCA president was there

The event was also attended by DDCA president Rohan Jaitley, marking a memorable moment that blended cricketing legacy with personal gratitude.Virat Kohli also took time during the event to present awards to young cricketers at the academy, many of whom were visibly overwhelmed to meet him. In one emotional moment, a student instinctively bent down to touch Kohli’s feet as a mark of respect, but the veteran batter quickly stopped him, opting instead for a handshake and a few motivating words.

Kohli having Great connection with him

Reflecting on his deep-rooted connection with the academy, Kohli said it has always remained close to his journey. He shared that he began training there at the age of eight and still makes it a point to return whenever his schedule allows. Calling it an important part of his childhood, he urged the young trainees to truly value their time and learning at the academy.

Kohli Thanked his Coach

Meanwhile, Rajkumar Sharma, Kohli’s childhood coach, spoke to ANI and expressed his happiness over the occasion. He thanked Delhi Public School, RK Puram for hosting the initiative and highlighted the strong infrastructure and dedicated coaching. He added that with consistent effort and proper facilities, the academy aims to produce more players for the country in the future, just like Virat Kohli.
