Openers
Martin Guptill: 237 runs
Martin Guptill has the highest score for a batter facing the first ball in ODIs. Guptill achieved the feat in the 2015 ODI World Cup. Guptill scored 237 runs as he became only the second batter to hit a double-century in a World Cup game after Chris Gayle, who achieved the feat in the same tournament. His innings consisted of 11 sixes and 24 fours. He remained not out with a double-century at a strike rate of 145.39.
Rohit Sharma: 264 runs
Rohit Sharma has the highest score in ODI cricket. His knock of the highest score in ODI cricket came against Sri Lanka in a match in 2014. Rohit scored 264 runs in just 173 balls. His knock came at a strike rate of 152.60 consisting of 33 fours and 9 sixes. He was dropped on just 4 runs and then went on to unleash his wrath on every Sri Lankan bowler before getting dismissed on the last ball of the innings.

Charles Coventry: 194 runs
Charles Coventry from Zimbabwe has the record for scoring the most runs while batting at number three. After winning the toss Zimbabwe elected to bat first and after losing the opener Mark Vermeulen early on in the innings Coventry came in to bat. Coventry then scored 194 runs not out in 156 balls. His knock came at a strike rate of 124.35 consisting of 16 fours and 7 sixes. His inning went all in vain as Bangladesh chased down the target thanks to a century by Tamim Iqbal.

Viv Richards: 189 runs
The legendary West Indian batter also features on this list. Viv Richards scored 189 in 1984 in a match against England. Interestingly, this ODI consisted of 55 overs. Richard scored 189 in 170 balls at a strike rate of 111.17 with 21 fours and 5 sixes.

Jaskaran Malhotra: 173 runs
In a match between the United States of America (USA) and Papua New Guinea (PNG), Jaskaran Malhotra scored 173 runs while batting at number 5. After losing three quick wickets, Malhotra came in to bat and got USA to a winning total. He scored 173 runs in 124 balls at a strike rate of 139.51 hitting just 4 fours and a whopping 16 sixes.

Kapil Dev: 175 runs
Kapil Dev’s innings of 175 is special in many ways. It is a historic knock in Indian cricket as Kapil entered when the Indian team lost four wickets with just nine runs on the board. He stitched up useful partnerships with Roger Binny, Madan Lal and Syed Kirmani to reach a score of 266. Kapil scored 175 runs not out in 138 balls while the second-highest run-scorer from the Indian team, Kirmani scored 24 runs. His knock consisted of 16 fours and 6 sixes.

Luke Ronchi: 170 runs
Luke Ronchi the wicketkeeper from New Zealand, scored 170 runs not out in 2015 against Sri Lanka while batting at number 7. After losing five wickets for 93 runs, Luke Ronchi came to the crease and stitched an unbeaten 267-run stand with Grant Elliot who also scored a century. Ronchi’s inning was high-paced as he scored 170 in just 99 balls at a strike rate of 171.71 with 14 fours and 9 sixes.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Simi Singh: 100 runs
The record for the highest score at number 8 is held by both Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Simi Singh who scored 100*. Mehidy Hasan scored 100* against India in a winning cause in 2022 while Simi Singh, from Ireland, scored 100* in a losing cause against South Africa in 2021.
Number 9
Andre Russell: 92 runs
Andre Russell holds the record for scoring the most runs while batting at number 9. He scored 92 runs against India in 2011. His knock of 92 runs came in just 64 balls at a strike rate of 143.75 consisting of 8 fours and 5 sixes. His knock went in vain as India went on to chase the West Indies total.
Number 10
Ravi Rampaul: 86 runs
Another West Indian features on the list and this time it is Ravi Rampaul. Rampaul scored 86 runs while batting at number 10 against India in 2011. His knock consisted of 6 fours and 6 sixes.
Number 11
Mohammad Amir: 58 runs
Mohammad Amir is the first player from Pakistan to feature on this list. He scored 58 runs in just 28 balls at a strike rate of 207.4 against England. He hit 5 fours and 4 sixes. His knock didn’t make a big change in the result as Pakistan lost the match by 169 runs.
