Most Runs At No 3 In ODI Cricket: Indian batting great Virat Kohli has now made a mark for himself in the history books of the sport by shattering one of Ricky Ponting’s largest records in the ODI format.
Scoring his 54th ODI century in the third match of the ongoing series against New Zealand in the city of Indore, he broke the record of the most runs scored for the number three batsman in the history of the sport. Though performing so well, Team India could not win the match and consequently lost the three-match ODI series against the Black Caps.

Batting at the pivotal No.3 spot, Virat Kohli overtook former Australia captain Ricky Ponting to become the highest scorer at that position in the history of ODI cricket.

Kohli and Ponting are the only batsmen who have scored more than 10,000 runs at number 3 in ODIs. This proves that both are the best at the same position. This achievement cements Kohli’s status as the most successful No.3 batsman in the history of the sport.
54th ODI Century: Kohli’s Special Knock in Indore
The third ODI match at the Holkar Stadium in Indore proved to be memorable for Kohli despite India’s loss. This was the first ever ODI century for Kohli at Indore Previously, he has played four ODIs on this ground without reaching the three-figure mark. His performance in those series had resulted in the addition of only 99 runs to his total.
Finally, breaking the drought, Kohli scored a commanding hundred, his 54th ODI ton, as he continues his dominance over this format as well.
