The World Athletics Indoor Championship 2025 is ongoing, having been inaugurated on 21 March 2025 in China at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park. A total of 576 athletes from 127 nations are competing in 26 events, and some of these events have already been concluded and we are here to tell you all about it.
The Men’s Triple Jump at the World Athletics Indoor Championship 2025 took place on 21 March 2025 and featured multiple attempts for each athlete with a final round. The gold medallist, Andy Diaz Hernandez, didn’t only just win, he also did that in the first attempt, which means he did not take a second turn showcasing his incredible athletic experience.
Yaming Zhu of China earned the second spot at the podium, while Hugues Fabrice Zango clinched the third position. Other notable performances include Almira Dos Santos and Jordan Scott who gave a tough competition but could not secure a medal.
The Men’s High Jump also took place on 21 March, where Sanghyeok Woo clinched the gold medal with a jump of 2.31 meters, Hamish Kerr claimed the silver medal with a jump of 2.28 meters and Raymond Richards won the bronze medal.
In another men’s event, a 60-metre event, Jeremiah Azu claimed the gold medal with a time of 6.49 seconds, which is also his personal best. Lachlan Kennedy secured the second position while Akani Simbine secured the third position at the podium.
In the women’s event, the pole vault gold medal was claimed by Julie Bonnin, who cleared a height of 4.75 meters. Tina Sutej also cleared 4.75 meters in height but finished second based on the count back while the bronze was won by Angelica Moser, who also cleared 4.75 meters in height.
The women’s shot put at the World Athletics Indoor Championship 2025 was held on 21 March 2025, where Sarah Mitton defended her title with a throw of 20.48 meters, marking a significant milestone in her career. Jessica Schilder was put second with a throw of 20.07 meters while Chase Jackson claimed bronze with a throw of 20.06 meters, which was a narrowing miss to the second position.
In another event, the women’s Pentathlon, which included five events, held over one day, the gold medal was claimed by Saga Vanninen of Finland, scoring a total of 4.922 points. Kate O’Connor finished second while Taliyah Brooks from the USA claimed the bronze medal.
