World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold Meet 2025: Big Achievers In Astana Ft. Kishane Thompson

The athletics season for 2025 has just begun and excitement is sky-high with top athletes raring to show their speed and endurance. 

Such excitement was visible at the  opening World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting of 2025 in Astana in Kazakhstan.

Kishane Thompson, who was one of the star attractions at the meet, got his season off to a winning start clocking 6.56 second in the men’s 60m.

Behind the Olympic 100m silver medallist, Oman’s Ali Anwar Al Balushi finished second (6.60), with Japan’s Shuhei Tada rounding completing the podium in 6.62.

In the women’s 60m at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet in Astana, the Clayton twins produced podium finishes. The World junior gold medallist Tia raced past her sister Tina after the first 20m for a meet record of 7.18. Tina finished third in 7.36 behind Portugal’s Lorena Bazolo (7.34)

Reigning world junior cross country champion Marta Alemayo produced a brilliant performance to break 8:40 in the women’s 3000m for a new World U18 record which is pending ratification. The 16-year-old Ethiopian Alemayo outsprinted Gumi Shito and Embaye Axumawit to win in 8:39.80 victory.

Two-time world shot put champion Chase Jackson, the only athlete to break the 19m mark in Astana, once again ruled the competition with 19.13m, which is also the best throw in the world this year.

Spain’s new long jump star Lester Lescay prevailed over Marquis Dendy of the USA by just a whisker of one centimetre as he topped the men’s long jump with 7.91m at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet.
