World University Games 2025 Germany: Sports And Venues

The FISU World University Games 2025 are set to get underway in Germany from July 16 to July 27, 2025. The event will bring together thousands of student-athletes from around the world under one roof. 

These Games stands as one of the world’s largest multi-sport competitions, second only to the Olympics in scale and diversity.

More than 10,000 representatives including athletes, coaches, and officials from over 100 countries are expected to converge in the 2025 Games.

FISU World University Games 2025: Venues

The 2025 edition of the World University Games will be held across six German cities: Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Hagen, and Berlin.  allows the events to take place in existing sports facilities and university infrastructure, supporting a more sustainable and cost-effective model of hosting.

A traditional Olympic-style Games village have been constructed and athletes will  be accommodated in hotels and student residences, promoting integration with local communities.

FISU World University Games 2025: Sports Program

The event features 18 sports, including:

  • 15 core sports: Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics (Artistic & Rhythmic), Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Table Tennis, Judo, Fencing, Archery, Badminton, Water Polo, Diving, Taekwondo, and Artistic Gymnastics.

  • 3 optional sports: 3×3 Basketball, Beach Volleyball, and Rowing.

A major highlight of this edition is the debut of 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball, marking the first time a para-sport will be included in the Summer FISU Games.
