WTC Final: Sunil Gavaskar wishes Dinesh Karthik for his commentary innings in WTC final
Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik are two Indian cricketers who will be seen commenting for WTC final to be played between India and New Zealand in Southampton.
Former India cricketer and legendary commentator Sunil Gavaskar wished Dinesh Karthik on his appointment as a commentator for the WTC final slated to be held in England from June 18 to 22.
India and New Zealand will face off in Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Indian players are already in quarantine.
Gavaskar who took to Instagram to wish Karthik luck shared an image with themselves and wrote, “He made his India Test debut when I was a consultant to the Indian cricket team. Now he will make his commentary debut with the WTC finals. I’m sure he will do well in the box too.”
“I was a bit fortunate the way it (commentary stint ) came to me. I think I can bring to the table things like technique and strategy. I have played with the cricketers in both teams, know the way they think, and will try to get into their heads.” Karthik told The Hindu.
Dinesh Karthik thanked Gavaskar and wrote, “Will be glad to be alongside you, thanks for the blessings sir.”
Dinesh Karthik did work with Sky Sports during India’s home series against England in March 2021. The India wicketkeeper and Sunil Gavaskar are currently in quarantine in Serbia. This small commentating team of two World Cup winners, 1983 and 2007 respectively, will fly to England before the World Test Championship final.
Here is an Instagram post by Dinesh Karthik himself sharing his time with Sky Sports.
Karthik making himself available for commentary means that he isn’t available for selection for the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri-Lanka in July. Karthik might captain KKR due to the unavailability of Eoin Morgan.
