Australian fast bowling legend turned commentator Brett Lee said in an interview to International Cricket Council (ICC) stated that given the emphasis on Test cricket in India, Virat Kohli would like to improve his performance. Lee believed that Kohli will step up the big occasion of the World Test Championship final against New Zealand.
MS Dhoni winning all three ICC trophies – namely T20 World Cup (2007), ODI World Cup (2011), and Champions Trophy (2013). Virat Kohli hasn’t won any ICC event yet since 2017, the year in which Kohli started leading India full time.
World cricket’s governing body ICC, released an interview with Brett Lee in their press release. Lee conversed in detail about all the questions directed to him. Here is an excerpt where Lee is seen talking highly of Kohli.
“Both captains (Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson) would want to raise a trophy at the end. In terms of the Indian skipper, Kohli, he is such a dynamic player, such a great influencer for the team, world-class batter.”

Lee, with an immensely impressive tally of 718 international wickets, pointed out that Kohli wants to see India as the first winners of ICC’s WTC.
“We know that that’s a given. But I think that his emphasis on how important Test cricket is to him, his team, and his nation, will weigh in very heavily on him and improve his performance. We know that Kohli steps up on the big occasions. And, as you mentioned, he wants to see his side be the first winners of the ICC World Test Championship. It means a lot to him. And I think that will be the talk.
“Once everything is said and done, once the preparations are done, when they arrive there when the quarantine is done, just before they walk out, I think that will be the last comment – Let us enjoy it but let us become the first side to ever to win this ICC World Test Championship,” concluded Lee.
India and New Zealand will face off for the WTC final from June 18 to 22, to be held in Ageas Bowl in Southampton, England. Indian players have already started their training sessions and New Zealand is playing a two-match Test series against hosts England of which, the first match ended in a draw.
