WWE Backlash 2025 proved to be a thrilling event, where viewers got to see high-level matches, shocking entries and clashes of old enemies. Although there were a total of six title matches in this show, not a single championship changed hands. Each champion successfully defended his belt and the foundation was laid for many new storylines moving towards summer.
John Cena showed his cunning again, defeated Orton to save the title
In the main event, John Cena defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against his old rival Randy Orton. The match was full of interference, referee bumps and tactics. Cena took full advantage of his new heel avatar, foiling Orton’s attempts by attacking with the belt and misleading the referee. Although Orton hit several RKOs, he could not win. This match has made the decades-old feud between the two more personal.
Jacob Fatu got a surprising support in his victory
Jacob Fatu retained his championship by defeating Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest and LA Knight in a Fatal-4-Way match for the United States Championship. In this match, Jeff Cobb made a surprising entry and helped Fatu along with Solo Sikoa. It is clear from this that a dangerous new group is forming around The Bloodline.
Lyra Valkyria retained her supremacy by defeating Becky Lynch
Lyra Valkyria retained the Women’s Intercontinental Championship by giving a tough fight to Becky Lynch. In the match, Lynch resorted to unfair moves like finger in the eye and exposed turnbuckle, but Valkyria did not lose courage and won clean with a roll-up pin. After the match, Lynch lost her temper, while Valkyria was celebrating her victory with a facial injury.
Judgment Day’s dominance continues, Dominik Mysterio defends the title
Dominik Mysterio defeated Penta for the Intercontinental Championship, in which El Grande Americano played a big role. Americano headbutted Penta with a loaded mask, giving Dominik the win. After the match, all the members of The Judgment Day came together and celebrated the victory, which makes it clear that their group has become stronger than before.
Gunther’s terror continues
Although it was not a title match, the Gunther vs. Pat McAfee bout thrilled the audience. Gunther knocked McAfee unconscious in a tremendous submission, proving once again that he is one of WWE’s most dangerous superstars. At the same time, McAfee’s bravery also won the hearts of the fans.
