Zlatan Ibrahimovic to miss out next two games against Cagliari and Torino due to injury

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be back for Milan’s potentially crucial final Serie A match at second-placed Atalanta on May 23.

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli said on Tuesday about Zlatan Ibrahimovic that he will be out for at least two matches with a knee injury and will miss games against Cagliari and Torino, that too just a month before the start of Euro 2020 for the Swede.

The 39-year-old, who returned to international football in March after a five-year absence, suffered the injury during AC Milan’s 3-0 win over top-four rivals Juventus at the weekend.

Now AC Milan is in Third place in Seria A points table, and who sit three points above fifth-placed Juventus in the race for the Champions League, and they will play against Cagliari on Monday and then on Wednesday, they will face Torino.

“He suffered a slightly sprained knee, he will not be available tomorrow (Wednesday) or Sunday against Cagliari. And then we will see what the developments are next week,” Pioli said.

Zlatan has netted 17 times in all competitions this term. And Ibrahimovic has only scored once following February until now it was because of either missing games due to injuries or suspensions. But the Swede recently signed a one-year contract extension with AC Milan until June 2022. He could be back for Milan’s potentially crucial final Serie A match at second-placed Atalanta on May 23.

Zlatan will play with Sweden in Euro 2020 and Sweden play their first fixture against Spain in Seville on June 14, then further Group E games against Slovakia and Poland in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
