These 10 records might never be broken, and that’s why these are the best historic moments of the UEFA Champions League.

  1. The Real Kings of UCL

The Spanish giant club Real Madrid are rightly called the kings of Europe. Since the inception of the competition the Los Blancos have made sure to remain in the headlines. In 1955-56 the first European Cup (rebranded as UCL in 1992) happened and Real Madrid emerged victorious. Then they went on to win the competition on 4 more occasions consecutively. After 1955-56, Real Madrid went on to win the cup in 1956-57, 1957-58, 1958-59, 1959-60. Real Madrid is still the only team in the competition to have won the coveted title five times consecutively.

  1. English clubs have the success mantra for UCL

England has a distinguished record of having the most winners in their country. A total of five clubs from England have won the UCL. The five clubs that have won the Champions League are Liverpool, Manchester United, Nottingham Forrest, Chelsea and Aston Villa. The most UCLs from England are with Liverpool they have 6. Manchester United sits behind them with 3. Nottingham Forrest and Chelsea are tied for the third spot they both have 2 UCLs each. While Aston Villa only won the title once.

  1. Fastest hat-trick ever

In a match between Lyon and Dinamo-Zagreb in the 2011-12 season, Lyon striker, Bafetimbi Gomis scored the fastest hat-trick ever recorded in the history of UCL. The French-born striker scored his hat-trick in just eight minutes into the second half. With the score line being 1-1 at halftime it was the Gomis show in the second half as he scored 4 times in the game to win the game for Lyon with a thumping scoreline of 1-7 at the full time.

  1. Clearance Seedorf wins it for everyone

Former Dutch mid-fielder Clearance Seedorf has this unique record of winning the UCL with three different clubs. Seedorf first won the title with Ajax in 1995 and then he went on to win it with Real Madrid in 1998. He then won the title twice with AC Milan in 2003 and 2007.

  1. Juventus can’t cross the final hurdle

Juventus is the most unlucky team in the competition. The Italian club has played 9 finals and has won the coveted trophy twice only, resulting in seven losses. They last won the title in 1996 with the previous win being in 1985. They lost the finals in 1973, 1983, 1997, 1998, 2003, 2015, and 2017. Bayern Munich and Benfica sit second on this list with five losses each in the finals.

Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly the best player ever to play in the UCL. With numerous records to his name, he will forever be in the history books in UCL. Ronaldo has the record for scoring the most hat-tricks in a season as well as the most hat-tricks in the history of the UCL.

Ronaldo scored three hat-tricks in the 2015-16 season for Real Madrid. He also has a record eight hat-tricks in the competition.

  1. Fastest goals

The fastest goal in the Champions League was scored by Bayern Munich player Roy Makaay. He scored his in just 10.12 seconds against Real Madrid in the round of 16 of the 2006/07 season. The former Italian and AC Milan legendary defender Paolo Maldini has the record for scoring the fastest goal in the finals. He scored the goal in just 53 seconds against Liverpool in the year 2005.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have been the most successful teams in the competition. They are the only teams to have more than 200 match wins in the competition. Los Blancos have 283 wins while the Bundesliga legendary club has 229 wins. Barcelona has come close to 200 wins they currently have 197 wins.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been famous for moving around Europe and playing for many teams. Ibrahimovic has the record for scoring goals for most clubs. The Swedish forward has scored goals for 6 clubs which are Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG. But unfortunately, Zlatan himself has never won the trophy.

In 2006 Arsenal produced a defensive master class. The North London club did not concede a goal for 10 consecutive games.
