After receiving One-Day International (ODI) cap from his younger brother Hardik, all-rounder Krunal Pandya couldn’t stop being a little emotional in the first ODI against England on Tuesday.
All-rounder Krunal Pandya and Karnataka fast bowler Prasidh Krishna earned the ODI maiden caps for their debut ODI series against England and were included in India’s playing XI for the opening game at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
The 29-year-old Krunal made his debut in 2018, has played eighteen T20 Internationals. After receiving the cap from his brother Hardik, Krunal could be seen looking toward the sky, probably remembering his late father and teared up a little before being embraced by his younger brother.
Notably, the game will see two pairs of brothers play against each other. Where India has Hardik and Krunal as Pandya brothers, England has sent to field both Tom Curran and Sam Curran.
Looking further inside the game, England won the toss and opted to field initially at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
Virat Kohli, captain of the Indian team, described that he was very happy with the outcome and revealed that he would have anyways opted to bat if he had won the toss.
