The 29th Match of the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup was an England vs Sri Lanka encounter played on Monday, 01 November 2021 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, United Arab Emirates.

1st Innings – England puts 163 Runs on the board

However, a 112 Run Stand between Jos Buttler and England’s Captain Eoin Morgan comes to an end, as Morgan departs scoring 40 Runs (off 36 balls) as Wanindu Hasaranga bowled him out. With that, England was 147/4 (18.2 overs).
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler’s fine knock of 101*(off 67 balls) made sure that England finished their innings at 163/4 (20 overs). This is the highest individual score in this tournament. Not only that, this is Jos Buttler’s 1st Hundred in T20 International.
2nd Innings – Sri Lanka’s Target is 164 Runs
By the end of the powerplay, Sri Lanka were three down as Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka on 21 Runs (off 16 balls) and Kusal Perera lost their wickets. Sri Lanka were at 34/3 (5.1 overs).
But, then another wicket fell as Avishka Fernando departs due to an LBW decision as Chris Jordan picked the wicket. Sri Lanka was 57/4 in 8.3 overs.
However, Bhanuka Rajapaksa too departed after a cameo knock of 26 Runs (off 18 balls). With that, Sri Lanka was 76/5 (10.5 overs).
Then a good partnership of 53 Runs between Dasun Shanaka & Wanindu Hasaranga was stopped due to a good fielding effort, as Roy and Billings combine to take a catch as Hasaranga departed scoring 34 Runs (off 21 balls). Sri Lanka was at 129/6 in 16.5 overs).
After that 4 Wickets fell in quick succession, as Sri Lanka was All Out at 137 (19 overs).
As a result, England won the match by 26 Runs. Hence, the Player of the Match was awarded to Jos Buttler for his 101*(off 67 balls).
