Riot Games has officially confirmed the full launch of its free-to-play fighting game 2XKO. The game will fully release on January 20, 2026, ending its Early Access phase. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
2XKO brings characters from the League of Legends universe into a fast-paced fighting game built around two-versus-two combat. The game is designed for both casual players and competitive fans, making it easy to start while still offering deep gameplay for skilled players.
What Is 2XKO All About
2XKO is a tag-team fighting game where players pick two champions and fight as a team. You can control both characters on your own or team up with a friend for true co-op battles.
The game focuses on fast action, simple controls, and smart assists. Players can call in their second fighter during combos, defense, or pressure situations. This makes matches feel dynamic and exciting.
Set in the world of Runeterra, the game features detailed stages, original background music, and redesigned moves for popular champions like Jinx, Yasuo, and Ahri. Every character feels unique while still fitting into the classic fighting game style.
Riot has also confirmed that 2XKO will run as a live-service game, with new seasons, balance updates, and more champions planned after launch.
Early Access Journey and Launch Details
2XKO entered Early Access on PC on October 7, 2025. Before that, Riot ran closed beta tests to improve online performance, character balance, and overall stability.
Since October, player progress has been saved permanently. Any cosmetics or unlocks earned during Early Access will carry over to the full release.
The January 20, 2026 launch is important because it also marks the first time the game arrives on consoles. PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S players will all be able to play together in one unified launch.
Riot has confirmed strong rollback netcode and advanced anti-cheat systems to ensure smooth and fair online matches from day one.
Competitive Plans and Community Support
Riot is clearly aiming to make 2XKO a serious competitive game. A full esports roadmap is already planned for 2026.
The game will appear at major fighting game events such as Frosty Faustings, Genesis, Texas Showdown, and Viennality. These events will help introduce 2XKO to the wider fighting game community very quickly.
Alongside official tournaments, Riot will continue to support community events and small organizers. Programmes that started during Early Access will remain active, helping local scenes grow.
With free access, strong online features, and a massive League of Legends fanbase, 2XKO is set up to become one of the most talked-about fighting games of 2026.
