5 Major Mistakes Of Punjab Kings Loss In RCB vs PBKS, IPL 2025 Finals

5 Major Mistakes Of Punjab Kings Loss: The IPL 2025 ended on a heartbreaking note for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the last match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In the final, at Narendra Modi Stadium, PBKS lost by 6 runs. PBKS won the toss and opted to bowl first, but could not chase the score of 190 from RCB and ended with a score of 184 in their 20 overs.

5 Major Mistakes Of Punjab Kings’ Loss in the RCB vs PBKS IPL 2025 Final

1. Shreyas Iyer’s Premature Wicket Was Expensive

After being an important part of PBKS’s qualifier victory, team captain Shreyas Iyer was unable to contribute on the biggest stage. Iyer got dismissed at 1 in the over of Romario Shepherd by a caught-behind dismissal. Iyer’s dismissal left a massive hole in the middle order, and no other batter was there to fill in his role.

2. Nehal Wadhera’s Low Strike Rate Dented the Momentum

Nehal Wadhera roared with the bat all tournament long, but when it mattered, he came up short. He scored a slow 15 off 18 balls, a long way from the strike that was needed in the finals. Nehal’s failure to rotate the strike and accelerate in the middle overs killed PBKS’s momentum and ultimately applied undue pressure on the chase.

3. Marcus Stoinis: A Six Followed by a Self-Destructive Shot

Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis hit an enormous six to begin his innings, but unbelievably was out on the very next ball. Attempting to go big again without assessing the state of the game was extremely damaging for PBKS. This act turned the momentum back to RCB and severely damaged Punjab’s chances.

4. Prabhsimran Singh’s Failure to Convert

Prabhsimran Singh, the opener, got started indifferently, with a score of 26 off 22 balls. He got out by an attempted big hit against Krunal Pandya, who was the player of the match in the RCB vs PBKS finals. Deciding to step out early on the attacking bowler of the rivals resulted in throwing away the wicket when an important partnership was needed.

5. Josh Inglis’s Unfortunate Exit Dismantled the Balance

Wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis was one of the few positives in PBKS’s batting, contributing a swift 39 from 23 balls. But his fall came at a crucial juncture in the run chase. If Inglis had remained a bit longer on the crease, PBKS could have had a better chance of clinching the trophy. His error proved to be a turning point in the RCB vs PBKS final.
