Chennaiyin FC is set to face off against Jamshedpur FC in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24, with head coach Owen Coyle emphasizing the team’s collective need for improved defensive play to secure a victory in their upcoming match. Despite facing back-to-back draws, Coyle remains confident in his squad’s ability to perform well.

Expressing his concerns about Cyclone Michaung, which recently struck the southern Indian coast, Coyle extended the team’s support to the city’s residents facing challenging times. The cyclone disrupted the team’s training schedule, but Coyle remains optimistic about his players’ performance in the upcoming contest.

In a pre-match statement, Coyle conveyed, “Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the city. Some people tragically lost their lives, so I think we have to give a better perspective on things. It’s a traumatic time for everybody.” He acknowledged the tough challenge awaiting his team against Jamshedpur but remained positive about their chances.

Chennaiyin FC boasts a strong historical record against Jamshedpur in the ISL, having won five matches. Coyle’s squad aims to deliver a commendable performance away from home, addressing defensive improvements highlighted in recent matches.

Coyle commented on the team’s defensive strategy, stating, “Jamshedpur is very strong defensively, but we don’t change the way we play. We play to win games. As a group, we need to defend better because of the goals we lost at Kerala, which could be avoidable.”
