New Zealand’s Chad Bowes made history by scoring the fastest double century in List A cricket in Wellington. The 32-year-old hit 200 runs in just 103 balls, breaking the previous record held by India’s Narayan Jagadeesan and Australia’s Travis Head.

Bowes, playing for Canterbury against Otago in the Ford Trophy, scored 205 runs from 110 balls. This amazing performance beat the earlier records of Jagadeesan and Head, who both reached 200 runs in 114 balls. Jagadeesan set his record with a huge 277-run inning for Tamil Nadu in the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy, while Head did it for South Australia in the 2021-22 Marsh Cup.

Chad Bowes’ powerful batting helped Canterbury reach 343 runs for 9 wickets at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Otago, on the other hand, was bowled out for just 103, giving Canterbury a huge win by 240 runs.

This incredible performance happened in Chad Bowes’ 100th List A match. He became the first player since Jamie How to score a double century in the Ford Trophy. How had scored 222 for Central Stags in the 2012-13 season. Bowes’ previous best score in List A was 126, making this knock a major milestone in his career.

Chad Bowes reached his 50 runs in just 26 balls and scored a hundred in 53 balls. Though he missed Ross Taylor’s record of the fastest century in the competition (Taylor did it in 49 balls), Bowes still showed great attacking skill. This performance came soon after he was not chosen for New Zealand’s white-ball tour of Sri Lanka.

With this knock, Chad Bowes further proved himself as a top player in New Zealand cricket. Born in South Africa, Bowes moved to New Zealand and has played for the national team in both ODIs and T20s. Known for his strong hitting, Bowes has become a key player for Canterbury and has added this new record to his achievements.
