According to a top source within the ICC, the decision was almost finalized at the top meeting between the newly-appointed Chairman of the Global body- Jay Shah, and its board of directors including Pakistan yesterday, Thursday at their Dubai Headquarters.

An ICC source told PTI, “All parties have agreed in principle that the 2025 Champions Trophy will be held in the UAE and Pakistan while India will play its matches in Dubai. It is a win-win situation for all stakeholders.’

The Champions Trophy is going to be held in February-March next year. Pakistan backtracked its boycott threat at the last ICC meeting last week and agreed to the hybrid model and demanded a similar arrangement for itself till 2031. However, the ICC has agreed to the hybrid model for all its competitions till 2027.

In this phase, India would be hosting the Women’s ODI World Cup in October of the following year and in 2026 would hold the Men’s T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka. Even if this hybrid model is not pursued Pakistan will not be obligated to travel to India in the year 2026 either.

This arrangement, said a source from the Pakistan side, still considers compensation required by PCB to the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy taking place on the hybrid model: ‘Pakistan will play in Sri Lanka during the World Cup of 2026. Accepting this proposed arrangement has the consequence for the women’s team that they travel for league matches if required under schedules to play Pakistani women in a neutral location.
