South African pacer Corbin Bosch achieved this feat during the first match of the two-match Test series against Pakistan. The series opener is being played at Supersport Park in Centurion.

Bosch bowled a full delivery that moved away from the off-stump. Masood seemed to lose focus and played a loose drive away from his body, edging the ball. It flew to the gully, where Marco Jansen took a brilliant catch. Bosch gave South Africa the first breakthrough, sending Masood back to the pavilion after he scored 17 runs off 58 balls.

By taking a wicket with the first ball of his Test career, Bosch became the third pacer to do so in 2024. He joined Shamar Joseph and Tshepo Moreki in achieving this milestone. This is also the first time in Test history that three bowlers have accomplished this feat in the same year.

Shamar Joseph took the wicket of Steven Smith with his first ball at the Adelaide Oval in January, and Tshepo Moreki dismissed Devon Conway at Mount Maunganui in February. With his achievement, Corbin Bosch became the 25th bowler in Test history to take a wicket on the first ball of his career.

Bosch also became the fifth South African bowler to do so, joining Bert Vogler, Dane Piedt, Hardus Viljoen, and Tshepo Moreki.
