Sports in the Philippines are a huge part of the Filipino culture. The Philippine Sports Commission was created in 1990 and is the governing body for professional sports in the country. They are responsible for all the development in the field of sports.
Traditional sports of the Philippines include Arnis, which is also the national sport of the country, Sikaran (a form of kickboxing), Dumog (a Filipino style of wrestling) and Sipa.

Basketball is a major part of the country’s sport. It was introduced in the 20th century by American colonists, and the national team debuted in the Olympics in 1936. They hold the record for the most games won at the Olympics among teams outside America, Europe and Oceania. They won a bronze in the FIBA World Championship in 1954 and have bagged 5 FIBA Asia Cups, Asian Games and 8 SEABA Championships.
