Top 4 Cricketers Who Were Banned From IPL Ft. Harry Brook

The legendary former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh is at the first spot in our list of the top four cricketers who were served with bans in the Indian Premier League. Although the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008 proved to be a huge success among cricket aficionados, it also witnessed an ugly slap gate controversy where Harbhajan Singh was banned for the rest of the season for slapping Sreesanth in a heated argument on the field. The then Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh was also subsequently banned for five ODIs as a brutal repercussion of the slap gate controversy.

  • Ravindra Jadeja

At the second spot in our list of the four cricketers who were banned from the Indian Premier League (IPL), we have the legendary all-rounder of the Indian national cricket team, Ravindra Jadeja. In the IPL 2010 season, Ravindra Jadeja landed into serious trouble for allegedly negotiating with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) squad and a couple of other Indian Premier League franchises as well.

The spin-bowling wizard and a reliable batsman, Ravindra Jadeja, breached the IPL’s guidelines by not signing his renewal contract with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise and attempting to negotiate with the other teams. As a consequence, the BCCI imposed a one-year ban on Jadeja, ruling him out from the Indian Premier League 2010 season.

  • Mohammad Asif

Pakistan’s former cricketer Mohammad Asif, who represented Pakistan in all three formats of cricket from 2005 to 2010, is at the third spot in our list of the top four cricketers who faced brutal bans from the Indian Premier League. During the inaugural Indian Premier League 2008 season, Mohammad Asif was found guilty by the IPL Drug Tribunal for consuming a prohibited substance called “Nandrolone”.

As a consequence, Mohammad Asif was immediately served with a one-year ban. Although Mohammad Asif initially made subtle attempts to overturn the ban, consulting his team of lawyers and doctors, the BCCI refused to uplift the ban.

  • Harry Brook

Finally, at the fourth spot in our list of the top four cricketers who were served with bans in the Indian Premier League (IPL), we have England’s current vice-captain of the ODI and T20I teams, Harry Brook. Ahead of the upcoming 18th edition of the Indian Premier League scheduled to commence on 22 March 2025, Harry Brook pulled out of the season unannounced and ended up in a huge controversy. In the last IPL 2024 edition as well, Harry Brook pulled out due to the unfortunate demise of his grandmother.

Well, according to the recent directive given by the BCCI, if any foreign cricketer pulls out of an Indian Premier League season for two successive seasons for any reason apart from an injury, will be served with a two-year ban. Therefore, Harry Brook stands a robust chance of getting banned for two successive seasons i.e. IPL 2026 and 2027 editions.
