The Asian Wrestling Championships 2025 is set to take place from 25 to 30 March in Amman, Jordan. The city is hosting the Asian Championships for the first time in its history.
This is the 21st edition of the championship in which top wrestlers from Asia will take part.
While Iran has dominated the international wrestling scene, Japan is emerging as a powerhouse after the country won eight gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
India, which is also home to several top international wrestlers, will make its presence felt in the competition.
World championships medallists Antim Panghal and Deepak Punia will lead a 30-member Indian squad at the Asian Wrestling Championships 2025.
A total of 30 Indian wrestlers – 10 each for women’s, men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman categories – will compete at the continental championships.
At the last edition of the Asian Championships held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Indian wrestlers clinched nine medals – four silvers and five bronze.
