Who is Muhammad Abbas?
Born in Lahore, Pakistan, in November 2003, Muhammad Abbas grew up surrounded by cricket. His father, Azhar Abbas, was a first-class cricketer who played 45 matches for Pakistan before moving to New Zealand. Azhar continued his cricketing career in New Zealand, representing Wellington and Auckland, and is now an assistant coach for the Wellington Firebirds.
Abbas followed in his father’s footsteps and quickly made a name for himself in New Zealand’s domestic cricket scene. Representing Auckland and Wellington, he inspired along with his batting and all-spherical abilities. In just 21 matches for Wellington, he scored over 1,300 runs, including a maximum rating of one hundred thirty, and took 12 wickets.
