The Kentucky Derby is upon us promising another thrilling edition of the horse race. The event is set to be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 in which twenty horses will be taking part.
The 151st edition of the historic race, held annually on the first Saturday in May, with over 100,000 fans expected to be in attendance.
As has been hapenning since 1875, the Kentucky Derby will be held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

The official Kentucky Derby post time is 6:57 p.m. ET, Saturday, May 3, 2025. There will be undercard races throughout the afternoon on Saturday, but the main event isn’t until later on in the early evening.

The race will be available to watch live on FanDuel TV, NBC and USA TV Network.
- 10:30 a.m. – Noon ET; FanDuel TV.
- Noon – 2:20 p.m. ET; USA, Peacock.
- 2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. ET; NBC, Peacock.
- 7:30 p.m. ET through the final race; FanDuel TV.
For the second straight year, the Derby total purse is $5 million, with the winning owner earning $1.3 million and a gold trophy. Second place is worth $1 million, with payouts down to fifth place. The winning horse’s breeding rights are likely to soar. The winning jockey typically receives 10% of the purse and a smaller trophy.

The event carries a the prize money of $5 million. The winning owner earns $1.3 million and a gold trophy. Second place is worth $1 million, with payouts down to fifth place. The third placed will take home $500,000 , followed by $250,000 for fourth and $150,000 for fifth. The winning jockey typically receives 10% of the purse and a smaller trophy.
