The National Football League (NFL) players are set to compete in flag football at the Olympic Games LA 2028. The league organisers have officially confirmed the development.

Flag football is slated for Olympic debut in Los Angeles in 2028.

The decision was taken at the league’s Spring Meeting on 20 May marking a historic step in the global expansion of the sport.

Under the approved resolution, each NFL team will be permitted to send one player to the Olympics, along with an additional international player if designated.

“I think this news represents a great opportunity for the sport, for the NFL,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said in the NFL statement.

“It’s truly the next step in making NFL football and football a global sport for men and women of all ages and all opportunities across the globe. We think that’s the right thing to do, and this is a big step in accomplishing that.”
