The ICC World Test Championship finalists India, New Zealand occupy the top two places in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings after the annual update. India is closely followed by New Zealand who is just one point behind. England displaced Australia to remain in the third spot. Australia is placed fourth.
The current counting system rates all matches played since May 2020 at 100 percent and those of the previous two years at 50 percent. This system doesn’t count results from 2017-18.
India’s impressive show of 2-1 against Australia and 3-1 against England accelerated their way to the top. New Zealand on the other hand, with clean sweeps against West Indies and Pakistan (2-0) respectively, ensured they are in the finals of WTC.
Pakistan with 94 rating points is placed fifth. West Indies winning in Bangladesh, 2-0 moved up to the sixth place (84 points), their best position since 2013.
South Africa is in the seventh position, equaling their lowest in Test with 80 rating points, while Sri Lanka is eighth (78). Bangladesh with 46 rating points is ninth just above Zimbabwe, 35 points.

With another ICC Test Mace in the bag and a monetary reward of USD 1 million, India will be playing against New Zealand in WTC Finals from June 18 to 22 and then five test match series against England in August – September.
