Chloe Covell is unstoppable this season. The Aussie clinched yet another gold. This time at the X Games Osaka 2025.
The 15-year-old sensation won the women’s street skateboarding title on Saturday (June 21) at Kyocera Dome Osaka.
This is her second back-to-back gold after emerging victorious at the WST Street World Cup in Rome last week.
And this is her third X Games gold overall.
Covell topped the podium in Japan for the second straight year after winning the Chiba contest in 2024. It was also her sixth X Games medal overall.
The teen posted a first run of 90.00 to register a comfortable victory over Japan’s Ito Miyu (81.00) and Matsumoto Ibuki (77.00).
Paris 2024 Olympic champion Yoshizawa Coco qualified for the final second but was fourth in the end, managing only a 74.00.
“I’m super excited,” she said. “It’s my first time in Osaka and the first time X Games is in Osaka as well. I had a really fun time. I’m super happy that I could win.”
Covell is more than confident for her title defense ahead of X Games Salt Lake City next weekend.
“I did all the tricks that I knew I could land and I’m really happy that I landed them all,” Covell said. “I went a bit harder for my second run but I missed out on a bit of time at the end. For the finals I did the same first one because I knew it would get me a high score.
“I was feeling pretty confident because I had really good practice. I was just having so much fun skating with all my friends.”
The X Games returned to Japan for the fourth consecutive year this weekend where the world’s top action-sports athletes, 82 from 13 countries, are battling out.
Three skateboarding disciplines – street, park and vert – for both men and women are on the menu.
Also featuring at the X Games Osaka are three BMX events – street, park and flatland – as well as Moto X best trick. Vert will also feature a best trick competition.
