WWE has officially confirmed Goldberg vs Gunther for Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12. This announcement follows Goldberg’s shocking return on the June 16 episode of Raw, where he interrupted World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and delivered a clear message: “You’re next!”
This sudden face-off didn’t come out of nowhere. It all goes back to Bad Blood 2024, where Gunther publicly disrespected Goldberg and his son Gage, who were sitting in the audience. The tension between the two almost turned into a fight that night, but WWE never booked a match. Until now.
Goldberg’s Return Adds Fuel to a Personal Rivalry
Just one week after reclaiming the World Heavyweight Title from Jey Uso, Gunther appeared on Raw thinking he had shut down all challengers. But before he could move forward, Goldberg walked down the ramp and reminded him that their history was far from over.
This was not about rankings or titles. It was personal. The crowd in Atlanta the same city where Gunther had insulted Goldberg and his son months earlier, will now witness the two finally go head-to-head at SNME.
