Lando Norris Sets The Pace For Dutch Grand Prix 2025 In FP1 And FP2

3 Min Read

Formula 1 fans are buzzing with excitement as F1 weekends are back after a long summer break, and what better start than Lando Norris making a dominant statement in the opening practice sessions of the Dutch Grand Prix 2025 at Zandvoort. The McLaren star not only topped the table in both FP1 and FP2 but did that with pure skill, silencing critics who call him “lucky” for having a faster car.

Dutch Grand Prix 2025 FP1

The Dutch Grand Prix 2025 first practice session (FP1) saw Norris clocking impressive lap times despite taking a cautious line through the tricky Turn 3. This didn’t slow him down at all, proving that calculated precision is just as effective as outright speed. Norris finished the session ahead of some big names, including Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, who has been in impressive form recently. McLaren’s strong showing in FP1 created a promising start to what looks like a very competitive weekend at the historic Zandvoort circuit.

But the action didn’t stop there. FP2 turned out to be even more dramatic and challenging, with two crashes causing red flags that disrupted the rhythm of the session. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll suffered a heavy impact at the banked Turn 3, while Williams’ Alex Albon ended up stuck in the gravel at Turn 1 after a tough lock-up. Despite these interruptions and tricky conditions due to gusty winds off the North Sea coast, Lando Norris pushed on with impressive focus.

Lando Norris’ Outstanding Lap

Norris posted an eye-catching fastest lap of 1:09.890 on soft tyres in FP2, narrowly edging out Fernando Alonso by just 0.087 seconds. The battle for second place was incredibly tight as McLaren’s other star, Oscar Piastri, finished a mere 0.002 seconds behind Alonso in third. The fact that McLaren locked out the top three spots in this session tells a story of a team hitting its stride and firing on all cylinders.

The session wasn’t without controversy either, as Piastri now faces an investigation after a near collision with Mercedes’ George Russell in the pit lane, a detail that adds another layer of intensity to the weekend’s unfolding drama.

So, as we come closer to the main race on Sunday, all eyes will be on Lando Norris to see if he continues this pace in the main race of the Dutch Grand Prix 2025.
