On Sunday, Luka Doncic added his name to the history books of FIBA EuroBasket by recording a rare triple-double. The Slovenian star finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, helping Slovenia claim their first victory of the tournament with an 86-69 win over Belgium.

Doncic, who is also the face of the LA Lakers in the NBA, shot 9-of-23 from the field and 2-of-11 from three-point range. Despite the shooting struggles, his all-around performance made the difference.

Triple-doubles are not common in EuroBasket. In fact, Doncic is only the fifth player to achieve it in the long history of the competition. Here’s a look at the other players who share this rare milestone with him.

Players With Triple-Doubles In EuroBasket History

Mateusz Ponitka: 2022

Mateusz Ponitka

Before Doncic, Poland’s Mateusz Ponitka was the last player to achieve this feat. He did it in 2022 with a brilliant game of 26 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists against Slovenia. What made it even more memorable was that his performance knocked Doncic’s Slovenia out in the Group Phase.

Ponitka became the fourth player ever to achieve a EuroBasket triple-double, and coincidentally, he faced Doncic again in the 2025 opener where Poland once more showed their strength.

Andrei Mandache: 2017

Romanian guard Andrei Mandache was the first in 22 years to complete a triple-double when he played against Montenegro in 2017. He recorded 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Even though Romania did not win that game, Mandache’s name went down in EuroBasket history for achieving what few had done before him.

Toni Kukoc: 1995

Croatian legend Toni Kukoc, best known as a Chicago Bulls star and three-time NBA champion, was also part of this elite list. In 1995, he led Croatia to a 92-77 win over Finland with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Kukoc’s all-round brilliance carried Croatia to the bronze medal that year, proving his impact both in the NBA and international basketball.

Stojan Vrankovic: 1995*

Although not officially recognized by FIBA, Croatian big man Stojan Vrankovic is remembered by fans for his unique triple-double. He scored 12 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and blocked 10 shots in the bronze-medal game against Greece.

At the time, blocks were not officially tracked by FIBA, so his numbers were never ratified. Still, basketball followers continue to consider him a true pioneer of the EuroBasket triple-double.
