In a thrilling PKL Season 12 Gujarat Giants vs Bengal Warriorz match, Gujarat Giants broke free from the points table basement with a dominating 47-40 victory against the Bengal Warriorz at the SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Saturday evening.

The match featured high individual brilliance and record-breaking instances, led by Gujarat captain Rakesh Sungroya with 18 raid points, coming near Devank Dalal’s previous record of 25 points for the Warriorz.

Rakesh Guides Gujarat Giants to Much-Deserved Victory

Gujarat Giants vs Bengal Warriorz was one game where Gujarat started strong, and skipper Rakesh did not waste any time in taking control. His powerful raiding technique wreaked havoc within the Warriorz defence, adding to an early ALL OUT that put the Giants in complete control of the match.

Supported by Mohammadreza Shadloui’s all-round display and Ankit Dahiya’s timely raids and tackles, Gujarat maintained momentum throughout the first half. At the 10-minute mark, they had already built a 14-5 lead.

Historic First Half: Giants Set PKL 12 Records

The Giants converted their first-half superiority into one of the most dominant first-half performances of PKL Season 12. The Giants became the first team to register three ALL OUTs in the first 20 minutes of a match this season, and registered the highest first-half team score this season as well.

Despite of Devank Dalal’s efforts to keep Bengal Warriorz in the game, the absence of support from players such as Punit Kumar and Manprit saw Gujarat storm into halftime with a 31-12 advantage.

Devank Dalal Makes History for Bengal Warriorz

Regardless of the defeat, Devank Dalal made history in the PKL. With a sensational 25-point outing, he became the first player in PKL history to achieve a 20+ performance in three consecutive matches. In the second half, his raiding was so effective, he stretched Bengal in the third quarter.

He had some help from Punit Kumar and Sushil Kambrekar, to help the Warriorz send a blow of ALL OUT to Gujarat Giants the only major blemish on the Giants’ otherwise solid performance.

Gujarat Giants Remain Calm During Warriorz Fightback

The last quarter of the Gujarat Giants vs Bengal Warriorz encounter witnessed the Warriorz’s fightback continue. Devank was persistent, constantly testing Gujarat’s defence and reducing the deficit.

Yet, Gujarat’s initial advantage and pressure handling allowed them to get past the match. Major contributions by Rakesh, Ankit Dahiya, and Shadloui in the last moments sealed the match with a 7-point margin for Gujarat Giants.
