2 Min Read

The Ultimate Kho Kho (UKK) is set to kick-start on November 29, 2025, marking a historic milestone as international players will participate in the players’ auction for the first time. The development was earlier announced by Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI).

The confirmation was made by KKFI President Shri Sudhanshu Mittal during a press conference at Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tercentenary (SGT) University, Gurugram. It was also announced the announcement of foreign players in the league. This will enhance competition, expand the league’s global reach, and help establish India as the global hub for Kho Kho.

Ultimate Kho Kho

Since its inception in 2022, Ultimate Kho Kho has emerged as India’s third-most watched non-cricket sports league, following the Pro Kabaddi League and Indian Super League. The first season attracted 64 million viewers, with Odisha Juggernauts winning the inaugural title and Gujarat Giants crowned champions in the 2023–24 season.

Several changes were made to the standard rules of Kho-Kho in UKK in order to make the game more exciting and presentable on television. Sony Pictures Network India signed a 5-year deal to broadcast UKK, and will invest ₹200 crore (US$24 million) into the league over the 5 years.

Organisers are planning to launch a women’s version of UKK in a few years’ time. Future editions of UKK will expand to have eight to ten teams. It has been reported that a team from Northeast India might likely join the league. Venues in multiple cities could be used.

Before the start of the second season, UKK became the first Indian sports league to secure private equity-based funding, receiving it from a UK-based group.
