The latest Arsenal vs Tottenham showdown delivered a derby night to remember, as Eberechi Eze lit up the Emirates Stadium with a sensational hat-trick to push Arsenal six points clear in the Premier League title race.

The narrative surrounding Eze his mural vandalised by Spurs fans, his boyhood ties to Arsenal, and the summer transfer tug-of-war added extra spice to the fixture. And on derby day, he answered everything with his football.

Eze Shines Amidst Derby Tension

Eze’s mural outside the Emirates had recently been defaced – an Arsenal staffer sent out the following tweet soon after: “We sign a £60m forward. They throw paint at walls.”

The artwork, now restored with the caption “All roads lead home,” seemed prophetic. Spurs manager Thomas Frank even inadvertently set the stage on Friday by joking, “Who’s Eze?”

On the pitch, Eze responded loud and bright on match day, marshalling the game from the first whistle, scoring three rapid goals in the most heated Arsenal vs Tottenham rivalry.

First Half: Trossard Breaks Through Before Eze Takes Over

The derby got off to a tight, tactical start as Arsenal controlled possession while Spurs went deep, defending with almost seven behind the ball.

Eventually, Arsenal cracked the resistance:

Trossard Opens the Scoring

Mikel Merino dropped deep and released Trossard with a sublime through-ball. Trossard spun past Van de Ven and finished clinically, with Destiny Udogie playing him onside.

Eze’s First: A Solo Masterpiece

Eze doubled the lead soon after:

Picking up a loose ball on the edge of the Spurs box.

Weaving through minimal space with dazzling footwork.

Drilling his shot past Vicario.

At halftime, Arsenal were firmly in control, while Spurs had offered nothing in attack: not a single touch in the Arsenal box.

Second Half: Eze Completes a Dream Hat-Trick

Spurs switched to a 4-3-3 from a back three at the break, but the change didn’t pay off immediately. Eze completed his brace with a curled finish just 38 seconds into the second half, and was grinning from ear to ear as he tried to hide his celebration. A few minutes later, he came up with another composed, clinical finish to complete his hat-trick, each a masterclass in timing and technique.

Richarlison’s Wonder Goal a Rare Spurs Highlight

Richarlison provided the only bright moment for Spurs:

He spotted David Raya off his line after a midfield turnover.

He launched an audacious lob into the net from nearly 45 yards.

It was a goal of pure vision, yet one wildly out of sync with Spurs’ overall display.

Arsenal push for more as Spurs collapse

Arsenal continued to dominate: Declan Rice nearly created another goal with a dangerous set-piece. Eze almost had a fourth, denied only by a sharp Vicario save. Spurs were outplayed from first to last. Frank’s defensive configuration was a disaster, and at no time did his team threaten a comeback.
