The 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification for the FIBA Asia-Oceania region, begins November 2, 2025 and will conclude in March 2027. The process will determine the seven teams that will join the automatically qualified host Qatar at the 2027 FIBA World Cup.
India will face Saudi Arabia twice in the opening window of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers.
The Indian basketball team will play the first game away in Riyadh before returning home for the second meeting at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers Window 1: Asia and Oceania Groups

FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers: Format
All teams will face the other sides from their respective groups twice in a double round-robin format with the top three teams advancing to the second round.
The second round, which will culminate with the final three windows of the qualification cycle, will feature 12 teams divided into two groups of six teams.
Each second-round group will comprise the teams that progressed from the four first-round pools with all previous results carried forward. Teams will then play home-and-away fixtures against the other three opponents they have not yet faced.
The top three teams in each of the second-round groups along with the best fourth-placed side will secure qualification for the FIBA World Cup 2027 along with hosts Qatar.
A total of six windows will take place over a 15-month period across all FIBA regions for the qualifiers. The qualification cycle will decide 31 of the 32 spots for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027. A total of 80 teams from four FIBA regions – Africa, Asia and Oceania, Europe as well as the Americas – are competing in the qualifying windows.
