Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has shared a long and memorable journey with Virat Kohli, as the two have spent nearly their entire careers batting together for India. They remain one of the most successful ODI pairs the sport has ever seen.

Fans were once again reminded why Virat Kohli is called the GOAT across generations. His brilliant 135 in Ranchi showed not just his class, but also proved that form is temporary and true quality never disappears.

During his innings, Kohli mixed control and aggression beautifully. He struck 18 boundaries, including 7 massive sixes, and ran between the wickets with the same intensity he showed in his prime. It was another reminder of his unmatched fitness and hunger.

Rohit Sharma’s Fired-Up Celebration for Kohli’s Century

Nearly half of Kohli’s 135 came while he was partnering with Rohit at the crease. Rohit, who is usually the one taking the aggressive route, happily played second fiddle as Kohli attacked the bowlers with complete freedom.

The pair stitched together yet another 100-run partnership. Kohli reached his fifty during this stand, and with Rohit at the other end, looked completely unstoppable. Once Rohit departed, the scoring slowed down a bit, and the innings became more controlled, which suited the situation perfectly.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Become ODI’s Second-Most Successful Pair

Even at 37 and 38, Rohit and Kohli continue raising the bar for Indian cricket. Their latest century stand helped them move past Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara in the list of the highest-scoring ODI partnerships.

With 5619* partnership runs and 20 century stands, they now sit second on the all-time list. The only duo ahead of them is the iconic pair of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar.

Virat Kohli Sets Another Massive Record

Kohli’s Ranchi hundred also brought him another milestone. His 52nd ODI century pushed him ahead of all players in cricket history for the most tons in a single format. He now has 83 international hundreds overall.

By scoring his 52nd century in 50-over cricket, Kohli overtook Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 51 Test centuries, a record many thought would stand forever. Kohli’s achievement may also stay untouched for a very long time, given how rare such consistency is in modern cricket.
