ATP Player Of The Year: List Of Winners In History

The ATP Player of the Year is the most prestigious honor in men’s professional tennis. It is awarded annually by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) to the player who finishes the season as the World No. 1 in the ATP Rankings.

Prior to 2000, the ATP occasionally named a “Player of the Year” who was not the world No. 1 (e.g., Arthur Ashe in 1975). Today, however, the award and the Year-End No. 1 ranking are synonymous.

Since 2000, the award is automatically given to the player who holds the most ranking points at the end of the final tournament of the year (usually the  ATP Finals).
