ICE Barcelona has taken a major step toward strengthening ties between education and the global gaming industry by entering into a formal partnership with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). This collaboration stands out as one of the few initiatives of its kind, bringing together academia and the gambling industry in a meaningful way.
Through this jointly funded partnership, students from UNLV’s highly regarded William F. Harrah College of Hospitality will get the opportunity to take part in ICE Barcelona. The exhibition will serve as a valuable learning platform, giving students real-world exposure to the gaming and entertainment technology sector and helping prepare them for future careers.
A First-of-Its-Kind Industry and Academic Collaboration
Announcing the program, Clarion Gaming Managing Director Stuart Hunter shared his excitement about the partnership. He said, “I am delighted to be able to confirm this formal partnership between UNLV’s world-leading hospitality education program and ICE Barcelona the world-leading gaming and entertainment technology showcase.”
Hunter highlighted that the initiative is an industry-first and underlined its importance in bringing hospitality and gaming closer together. He also pointed to UNLV’s strong academic credentials, including its R1 research classification, top-five ranking in diversity in the US, and a place among the top 100 graduate and professional programs.
According to Hunter, “The partnership, which will be officially launched at ICE Barcelona 2026, sits perfectly with Clarion Gaming’s commitment to deploy the influence and reach of the ICE brand to help build a sustainable future for the industry that we serve.”

David Cárdenas, Dean of UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hospitality, echoed similar sentiments and emphasized the long-term value of the collaboration. He said, “Partnering with Clarion Gaming represents a powerful opportunity to combine our respective strengths and specialties in a way that benefits students, who are the future leaders of the hospitality and gaming industry.”
Cárdenas also spoke about the growing global reach of gaming and the role ICE Barcelona plays in supporting innovation. He further added that the Harrah College of Hospitality brings a unique perspective to these discussions, thanks to its research capabilities, global reputation, and strong industry connections. “The Harrah College of Hospitality is an important voice in these conversations, as we have the unique capacity to leverage our research, global standing, and industry partners to not only address the challenges facing the industry but also to identify opportunities for innovation.”
