It was an outstanding all-around effort from India in the U19 World Cup 2026 when they defeated the host country, Zimbabwe, by a whopping 204 runs during their Super Six match held in Bulawayo. An excellent unbeaten hundred from Vihaan Malhotra led the way for the Indian side in posting their strong score.

Explosive Start and Middle-Order Recovery

At the start of the match, the openers for the Indian side were Aaron George and Vaibhav Suryavanshi who scored a very quick first 44 runs without losing one wicket in their four overs of batting.

While George got out early in the innings, Suryavanshi continued batting aggressively. He reached his fifty in a very small number of balls. For the Zimbabwean side, they took three quick wickets of the Indian side and reduced India to just 130 runs with four wickets lost.

However, they were unable to take advantage of this situation and as a result of the partnership created between Vihaan Malhotra and Abhigyan Kundu, India were able to get back into the match by batting on a vital century partnership.

Kundu scored a very calm half-century, while Malhotra continued to bat all the way down the order and did a fantastic job in guiding his lower order batsmen. At the end of his innings, Khilan Patel gave the Indian team some late fireworks after scoring 30 runs off just 12 balls which ultimately helped India achieve their final score of over 350 runs.

Zimbabwe Crumble Under Pressure

Zimbabwe struggled to reach their sizeable innings target of 353. They lost an opener on the second ball of the lineup which helped set a poor precedent in what was to follow in the chase.

The remaining three of their first four batters who had the chance to bat failed to score in double figures due to some early success for Indian bowlers Ms Ambrish and Henil Patel. One lone bright spot during their attempts was Leeroy Chiwaula who scored an impressive 51; however, he had very little assistance from the other batsmen.

Indian captain Ayush Mhatre also put on a show bowling by taking three wickets, but Udhav Mohan produced a devastating double strike to finish things off with his team dismissing Zimbabwe by the 38th over.
