Both teams will eye a spot in the semi-final with a win in this match
West Indies will go head-to-head against South Africa in what happens to be a crucial game in Group 2 of the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup.
The two sides arecoming into the game on the back of a thumping win. West Indies got the better of Zimbabwe at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, while South Africa thumped India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to clinch their first round in the second leg of the 20-team tournament.
The two-time T20 World Cup champions would hope to replicate the same effort in all three departments of the game in order to increase their chances of winning against an in-form South African team.
South Africa, on the other hand, would back its captain Aiden Markram to lead from the front at the top of the order and for other batters to support him so as for South Africa to chasewhatever target is set by the opposition and confirm their place in the top four with a game to go, given that they have a strong net run rate.
Captains’ Corner
South African captain Aiden Markram said that the team will bowl first after winning the toss. Markram was of the opinion that the wicket might be a ticky due to the presence of moisture, which he hoped would subside as the game progresses, and they would be able to chase whatever target is set by the opposition.
When asked about the advantage that South Africa has of being familiar with the venue and the conditions, Markram admitted that it is an advantage, but was quick to add that every pitch that South Africa has played has been different, so it all comes down to theexecution of plans, which he felt the bowlers have done well.
Shai Hope, the captain of the West Indies, said that they would have bowled first as well had they won the toss, but will now have to bat well and put an above-par total on the board. West Indies have brought in Roston Chase in place of Akeal Hosein, a change which Hope said was a tactical one, keeping in mind the opposition and conditions.

The Pitch for the game between West Indies and South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium is expected to be good for batting, especially in the second innings, which is the reason why South Africa decided to bowl first.
