The Highest Team Totals in T20 World Cup represent the most destructive batting displays in the history of the biggest T20 platform in cricket. Although a total of 160 is considered a competitive score in T20 cricket, very few teams have managed to breach the 200-mark, and even fewer have scored above 230.

Right from the historic 260 by Sri Lanka in 2007 to the record-breaking scores by India and West Indies in the recent editions, here is a comprehensive list of the highest scores in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The third highest total recorded during this year’s tournament came from the Caribbean with a 12.70 run rate, while England produced one of the greatest run chases ever in T20 history with their score of 230 against South Africa in 2016 at Wankhede Stadium, exceeding the 229 target (which was then the second highest score by a team in a T20 cricket match).

South Africa – 229/4 vs England (2016)

Prior to England’s heroics, the South Africa national cricket team had already made their mark in the record books.

Score: 229/4

Opponent: England

Venue: Wankhede

Date: March 18, 2016

Despite the massive score, South Africa found themselves on the losing side of a historic battle.

India – 218/4 vs England (2007)

With an impressive total of 218/4 runs in their group match against England at Durban during the inaugural T20 World Cup (2007), India became the highest-scoring team in 20 years of T20 international cricket, paving the way for them to win the world title in 2007.

West Indies defeated AF SC Eshaan in their T20I series in Gros Islet by a score of 218/5 (2024). This is sometimes considered one of the best performances ever by an explosive batting lineup in T20 cricket based on the results of this game alone.
