The Pakistan Selection Committee is undergoing a serious change made by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Former Pakistan captains Misbah-ul-Haq and Sarfaraz Ahmed have been added as new members. This change happened after former international umpire Aleem Dar resigned from the committee.

The board made this decision to make the Pakistan Selection Committee stronger before the upcoming international cricket tournaments. By adding experienced former players, the Pakistan Cricket Board hopes the committee will choose better squads for Pakistan’s national team in future matches.

Aleem Dar Steps Down from Pakistan Selection Committee

Former international umpire Aleem Dar has stepped down from the Pakistan Selection Committee after serving for a short time. He joined the panel in October 2024 to help select players for Pakistan’s national cricket team.

However, reports said he resigned after disagreements during selection meetings with other members. Because of these issues, he decided to leave the Pakistan Selection Committee. Pakistan Cricket Board will now continue working with other selectors to choose squads for upcoming international matches.

Four Members Now Form Pakistan Selection Committee Panel

Pak Selection Committee Now has four members after the latest changes by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The panel includes former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, former fast bowler Aaqib Javed, and former Test batter Asad Shafiq.

This four-member Pak Selection Committee will now work together to choose squads for Pakistan’s international cricket matches. Their experience as former players is expected to help in selecting better teams for upcoming tournaments and series.

Disagreement in Pakistan Selection Committee Over T20 Squad

Sources said that there was a disagreement inside the Pakistan Selection Committee about the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Former international umpire Aleem Dar did not agree with the inclusion of Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, and Usman Khan in the team.

Reports said he had a different opinion during the selection meetings. Because of such differences in views among members, discussions happened inside the Pakistan Selection Committee while deciding the final squad for the tournament.

Aleem Dar Supported Rizwan in the Pakistan Selection Committee

Reports said that Aleem Dar supported wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan during discussions in the Pak Selection Committee. He believed that Rizwan should get the same support as other players. Dar felt that if some players were still getting chances even after poor form,

Rizwan should also receive similar backing from selectors. This opinion was shared during meetings of the Pakistan Cricket Board while the Pak Selection Committee discussed player choices for upcoming international matches.
